For the 2015-2016 academic year:
Qualifications and Conditions for Students
The applicant must satisfy following conditions:
*1) Academic Requirements
Every score obtained at applicant’s home institution during the last academic year will be converted into the JASSO Grading Score on the basis of 3-point grading scale (See Chart A). The overall score will be calculated using the following formula:
Overall score = [(No. of credits obtained at 3)*3 + (No. of credits obtained at 2)*2 + (No. of credits obtained at 1)*1 + (No. of credits obtained at 0)*0] / (Total No. of credits obtained)
Only those applicants with the overall score of 2.3 points or more will be eligible for the scholarship. However, in the case that the home university regards the applicant as eligible for this scholarship and the application gets accepted by the JASSO assessment, students with 2.0-2.3 points may also be able to receive the funding.
Students who are exempted from obtaining visa to stay in Japan for 90 days or less may enter the country as tourists and participate in the program.
